Jillian Wasson, PhD

I want to tell you a little about me – my approach to treatment, and my credentials – so you can decide if I might be the right fit for you.

I will work with you to help you increase self and relational awareness, process emotions, and help you develop increased confidence by focusing on strengths and values. I will challenge, support, and join you as you work examine your internal and external context.

My goal for therapy is always that you will no longer need to come to see me. I utilize a collaborative approach and believe you are the expert on you. I have a lot of training and experience working with a wide range of problems, but you know yourself better than anyone.

I believe positive change is a process, one that takes transparency and authenticity within the therapeutic relationships. I am dedicated to walking with you through whatever is keeping you stuck – dark or difficult emotions, doubt, shame, guilt, or interpersonal conflicts.

There are several evidence-based approaches to therapy. It is important to me, that you understand my framework as you consider if I will be a good fit for your concerns and goals. I am primarily interpersonal in my approach to therapy – however, I commonly integrate cognitive-behavioral, solutions focused and family systems treatments into my work (please ask if you want to learn more).

A little about me

I am a Mom, Wife, and Psychologist.

I moved around a lot growing up and never really had roots anywhere. Because my parents were born and raised Kansans, Kansas City was “home” long before I actually lived here. I moved to Kanas for the University of Kansas (RCJH) and have been a Kansan ever since.

I love snow. The mountains are where I feel the most grounded and free. I love hiking and aspire to be a runner. I am a lifelong learner and believe in practicing what I preach.I start every day with my planner and a good to-do list.
