Erica Magsam, Ph.D
Licensed Psychologist – Temp

Taking the first step to connect with a therapist requires significant strength whether it is your first therapy experience or you’re hoping to reconnect to build upon your previously learned coping skills. As a provider I strive to diversify each therapeutic relationship based on your needs every session. Finding the right fit for a therapy provider is important to reach the goals you have for yourself so I’ve included some background for you to learn more about me to help make a good choice for you.

My goal in providing services is to build coping skills, strengths, and promote behavioral change that lead you towards the values and goals you have for yourself. This includes creating a safe, warm, inclusive, and judgement free space that promotes openness and transparency in the therapeutic relationship. I prefer this process to be a collaborative experience where we work together to process life challenges and build skills that you can maintain outside of therapy.

My clinical specialties include:

• Anxiety & Panic Disorders • Depression • Chronic Pain • Chronic Illness • Adjustment Reactions • Grief & Loss • Stress Management • Trauma

I utilize an integrative evidenced-based approach in my therapy practice. As every person has different needs and wants in their therapy experience I adjust based on what will be a good fit for you. Primarily I practice from an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Cognitive

Clinical Focus

I focus on working with teens (13 or older) and adults through both individual and group psychotherapy. Though I practice as a generalist, I do have special interest in health psychology and mental health concerns complicated by physical health challenges. I am open to communicating with your primary care physician to support your mental and physical health journey.

I am LGBTQIA+ safe provider and strive to maintain a safe space for diverse populations.

Profession Training & Background

I have been providing psychological care for the past 6 years. Currently I am a temporarily licensed psychologist under the supervision of Jillian Wasson, Ph.D. I earned my doctorate in Counseling Psychology from the University of Memphis in August 2021. My clinical practice experiences continued through the completion of my predoctoral internship with the Nebraska Internship Consortium in Professional Psychology at Nebraska Medicine and postdoctoral psychology fellowship with the University of Kansas Health System in Family Medicine.

My experiences vary as I have worked in hospital and medical settings, university counseling centers, outpatient community mental health, and private practices. I prioritize making space for the complexities of each individuals identities and how they are a part of the therapeutic relationship.

A little about me

Just as I prioritize physical and mental health in the therapy space, I practice this in my personal life as well. It is not uncommon to find me at the gym, engaging in outdoor activities, playing with my dog, traveling or spending time with family and friends. I always enjoy a new local restaurant and giving back to the community. I try to bring my authentic personality into the therapeutic relationship and look forward to meeting you!
